Dental Hygienist - Columbia, Tennessee

We’re looking for you to become a valuable part of the team.

Dental Hygienist Details

• On-site position at Maury County Health Department, Columbia, TN
• Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm CST
• 7.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week
• 12-month contract, renewable
• Regional travel may be required

Dental Hygienist Duties

• Perform routine dental hygiene procedures including prophylaxis, debridement, scaling and root planing, and local anesthesia administration
• Apply fluoride varnish, SDF, desensitizing agents, and antimicrobial agents per department protocols
• Perform oral cancer screenings and conduct oral health assessments including periodontal evaluations
• Place sealants and take dental x-rays for diagnostic purposes
• Disinfect operatory and sterilize instruments between every patient
• Document patient information and complete electronic and paper dental health records
• Collaborate with dentists on treatment plans and referrals for urgent dental needs
• Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and the link between oral and systemic health
• Offer guidance on tobacco cessation, nutritional counseling, and HPV vaccination
• Support fluoridation programs and other population-wide dental health strategies

Dental Hygienist Qualifications

• Currently licensed as a Registered Dental Hygienist in the State of Tennessee required
• Minimum 1 year of clinical dental hygiene experience required
• Current CPR certification required
• Valid driver’s license required
• Must be a current Tennessee resident or willing to relocate prior to start
