Registered Nurse - Anchorage, Alaska

Are you a Registered Nurse with inpatient psychiatric or behavioral health experience looking for a meaningful and unique opportunity in Alaska? Cell Staff has partnered with the Alaska Department of Corrections to place an RN on the Mike Mod — ACC’s Acute Psychiatric Unit and Alaska’s only acute inpatient psychiatric unit for male offenders. This is a specialized role for a clinician who thrives in a structured, high-acuity psychiatric environment and wants to make a real impact.

Registered Nurse Details

• 1 opening — night shift, Acute Psychiatric Unit (Mike Mod)
• Night shift: 8:00 pm to 7:30 am (11.5-hour shifts)
• 7 days on, 7 days off
• Every other weekend required
• 13-week contract with option to extend
• Start: ASAP
• Location: Anchorage, Alaska

Registered Nurse Duties

• Provide hospital-level nursing care to acutely and chronically mentally ill patients in a structured inpatient psychiatric unit
• Medication management, mental status monitoring, stabilization, and patient observation
• Support diagnostic clarification and individualized treatment in a highly structured therapeutic environment
• Collaborate with on-site correctional and clinical staff to ensure patient safety and continuity of care

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Alaska RN license (or actively pursuing)
• Current BLS (American Heart Association)
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience; inpatient psychiatric, corrections mental health, or acute behavioral health experience strongly preferred
• Comfortable working in a secure, structured psychiatric setting
• Must be able to clear a State of Alaska background check
• Covid vaccine not required

Compensation

• Local rate: $63.00/hr
• Travel package: $23.00/hr + $1,800/week in travel stipends
