Physicians Assistant - Fairbanks, Alaska

Are you an experienced Physician Assistant who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment and is ready for your next adventure in interior Alaska? Cell Staff has partnered with the Alaska Department of Corrections to place a PA at Fairbanks Correctional Center — Northern Alaska’s primary intake and classification facility. We’re looking for a skilled, autonomous clinician with a strong primary or acute care background ready to make a real difference.

Position Details

• Monday through Thursday OR Tuesday through Friday, 40 hours per week
• 4-day work week, 3-day weekend every week
• Day shift (exact hours confirmed at interview)
• Fast-paced, high-volume intake environment
• 13-week contract with option to extend
• Start date: January 1, 2027
• Location: Fairbanks, Alaska

Duties

• Provide comprehensive medical care to a large, complex correctional population
• Manage acute and chronic conditions across a mixed-gender, all-custody-level facility
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, NPs, RNs, and mental health staff
• Conduct sick calls, chronic care visits, intake assessments, and urgent/emergency evaluations

Compensation

Local Package

• Estimated weekly gross (40 hrs): $3,872.00

Stipend (Travel) Package

• Estimated weekly gross (40 hrs): $4,092.00

Qualifications

• Active Alaska PA license (or actively pursuing)
• DEA license required
• Minimum 2 years of PA experience; ER, Family Practice, or Primary Care background strongly preferred
• Comfortable and confident working at a high pace
• Corrections or institutional healthcare experience a plus
• BLS (AHA) required; ACLS preferred
• Must be able to clear a State of Alaska background check
• Covid vaccine not required
