This week’s “Fresh City Friday” is Las Vegas, NV
Whether you’re a high roller or a low-key lounger, Las Vegas has something to suit your city taste. Sample fare from top chefs and cornucopian buffets, try your luck at one of the world’s premier casinos, or take in a spectacular show. Just wandering the Strip is enough to get your heart pumping but remember the age old say, “whatever happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.”
Star Trek Convention

Calling all Trekkies, it’s that time of the year again. Get Scotty to beam you up, live long and proper and try not to die Jim. Vegas is always full of surprises so go where no man has gone before.
Remember that this is a highly logical decision so freshen up on your Klingonese because resistance is futile!

Big Shot, X Scream & Insanity: The Ride
If you’re afraid of heights, stay from the 1,150ft (350m) Stratosphere Tower. And even if you don’t suffer from vertigo, you might want to steer clear of the resort’s thrill rides. The Big Shot will rocket you 160ft (49m) up the tower’s spindle under a force of four G’s; at the top, you’ll experience a moment of weightlessness before free-falling back to the launch pad. X Scream will propel you headfirst 27ft over the edge of the Tower and then leave you there to dangle. And during insanity, an arm will extend 64ft (20m) over the edge of the tower and spin you around at a terrifying rate. Best save dinner for later.
Where: Stratosphere Hotel and Casino
Time: Best at sunset
Cost: $8 per person, All 3 rides $24.95 or All Day Pass for $29.95
Not in Vegas but a short drive away in Arizona. The Grand Canyon is on almost every traveler’s bucket list. Indeed, Theodore Roosevelt called it “the one great sight which every American should see.” The Bright Angel and south Kaibab Trails offer stunning views, but if hiking’s not our cup of tea, rent a bicycle or take a scenic drive through the park.
Take a ton of pictures!

The High Roller: World’s Tallest Observation Wheel
Shinning bright on the Las Vegas Strip, the 550-foot tall High Roller is a true standout at The LINQ’s outdoor shopping dining and entertainment promenade.
Measuring 520 feet in diameter, the High Roller eclipses both the London Eye and Singapore Flyer. Facing north and south (parallel to Las Vegas Boulevard), the wheel takes 30 minutes to complete one full revolution and features 28 glass-enclosed cabins with broad views of the famed resort city. Each spherical cabin can hold up to 40 people. There are benches on either side of the cabin, with plenty of floor space in between.

Time: Best at Sunset
