RD Duties
-
Perform thorough assessments of clients’ nutritional status, dietary habits, and mental health history.

Evaluate the impact of mental health disorders, medications, and lifestyle factors on nutritional needs.

Identify potential nutrient deficiencies or imbalances contributing to mental health symptoms.

Design personalized nutrition plans tailored to clients’ specific mental health concerns, preferences, and goals.

Collaborate with clients to set realistic dietary objectives and create achievable meal plans.

Educate clients on the importance of balanced nutrition in managing mental health conditions and enhancing overall well-being.

Offer evidence-based nutrition counseling to address clients’ concerns related to mood disorders, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and other mental health issues.

Teach clients behavioral strategies to improve eating habits, manage cravings, and foster a positive relationship with food.

Provide education on the role of nutrients, such as omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals, in promoting mental wellness.

Regularly monitor clients’ progress and dietary adherence through follow-up appointments and assessments.

Adjust nutrition plans as needed based on clients’ evolving needs, feedback, and treatment outcomes.

Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to integrate nutrition interventions into overall treatment plans.

Stay abreast of the latest research, guidelines, and best practices in nutrition and mental health.

Attend relevant conferences, workshops, and continuing education programs to enhance professional knowledge and skills.

Apply evidence-based approaches to optimize nutrition care for individuals with mental health disorders.

Advocate for the integration of nutrition services into mental health treatment programs and community settings.

Develop and implement wellness initiatives to promote healthy eating habits, stress management, and self-care practices.

Collaborate with community organizations and stakeholders to raise awareness about the importance of nutrition in mental health.
RD Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited educational institution

Licensed as a Registered Dietitian (RD) by the State in which the position is located. The license MUST be in good standing
-
1+ year of relevant Registered Dietitian (RD) experience
