Are you an experienced Registered Nurse with an infection control background looking for a specialized, high-impact role? Cell Staff has partnered with a state-operated inpatient and forensic psychiatric facility in Anchorage, AK, to fill an Infection Control Coordinator and Employee Health Nurse role. This is a unique opportunity for a clinician who wants to lead at the systems level rather than work a traditional floor nursing assignment.
Position Details
- Schedule: 4 days x 10-hour shifts OR 5 days x 8-hour shifts — to be confirmed with facility
- Day shift, Anchorage, AK
- 13-week contract with option to extend
- Start: ASAP
What You Will Do
- Serve as the hospital-wide Infection Control lead — chairing the Infection Prevention and Control Committee and managing all regulatory compliance (Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, APIC)
- Conduct infection surveillance, environmental rounds, and microbiological data review
- Lead the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program and prepare monthly reports
- Maintain all employee health and immunization records for staff, contractors, volunteers, and students
- Administer vaccines, PPDs, and draw labs; record in VacTrak per Alaska law
- Develop and deliver infection control training to new and existing staff
- Serve as backup Nurse Trainer for new RN onboarding
- Sit on Environment of Care, Safety, and Antimicrobial Stewardship committees
- Provide direct nursing care coverage as needed during short staffing
Qualifications
- Active Alaska RN license (or actively pursuing)
- Infection control experience strongly preferred — hospital-wide IC coordination, regulatory compliance, or employee health background
- CIC certification preferred; must obtain within 2 years if not already certified
- Familiarity with Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, and APIC standards
- EHR proficiency required; MEDITECH experience a plus
- Comfortable working in a psychiatric inpatient environment
- Strong organizational and report-writing skills
- BLS/CPR (AHA) required
- Must be able to clear a State of Alaska background check
- Covid vaccine not required
