Registered Nurse Scope of Work:
Contractor agrees to provide the DSH with Temporary/Relief Registered Nurse services, to assist DSH clinical staff in providing the highest quality of care reasonable and consistent with available resources, and in accordance with DSH policies and procedures.
Registered Nurses (RN's) shall work under the clinical direction of the DSH Coordinator of Nursing Services (CNS), or designee, in accordance with state laws and regulations and shall at all times comply with universal safety precautions and maintain DSH security measures and a safe work environment. Alternate work schedules/assignments are at the discretion of the CNS, or designee.
RN's shall be required to render health services to any DSH patient as needed.
All RN's must be proficient in the English language, be able to speak English fluently, understand oral and written English communications and write effectively.
RN must have a current and valid license issued by the Nursing Board of California and maintain a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) card. A copy of each RN's license, certification and resume must be provided.
In the event that a RN assigned under this agreement by the Contractor is subpoenaed to testify in a hospital related court matter, reimbursement will be made for travel and per diem equivalent to that of a RN employed in state services.
Under the direction of the CNS or designee, Contractor's referred personnel will provide services as permitted within the scope of practice for Registered Nurse, including but not limited to the following:
i. Perform care consistent with the scope of licensure and in accordance with the DSH facility policies and procedures.
ii. Provide direct registered nursing services, comprehensive evaluations, diagnosis and treatment, including administration of psychotropic medications.
iii. Provide registered nursing evaluations/care to patients housed in the Seclusion Room.
iv. Review patients' progress.
v. Consult, as necessary, on unusual, complex or serious cases and present such cases to appropriate clinical staff for advice.
vi. Develop patient treatment plans and coordinate professional and paraprofessional services.
vii. Provide and maintain adequate medical documentation for the patients' medical record.
viii. Provide follow-up services.
ix. Attend and participate in staff meetings for the discussion of psychiatry and the mental condition of various patients and their final diagnosis and treatment.
x. Maintain security of work area and work materials.
