We have 4 mid-shift openings in Wasilla — Alaska’s largest correctional facility — across two distinct units. We’re looking for you to become a valuable part of the team.

Registered Nurse Details

4 openings — mid shift
Mid shift: 12:00 pm to 11:30 pm (11.5-hour shifts)
Every other weekend required
13-week contract with option to extend
Start: approximately 2 weeks
Location: Wasilla, Alaska (Mat-Su Valley)

About the Units

Medical Unit (3 openings) — General medical nursing for the correctional population. Med pass, wound care, triage, sick calls, and managing acute and chronic medical conditions alongside a psychiatric-comorbid inmate population.

Infirmary (1 opening) — Higher-acuity medical monitoring and observation. Think step-down within a correctional setting. Strong acute care background preferred for this unit.

Registered Nurse Duties

Work as a member of the correctional medical staff to provide care to patients
Follow direction of Provider to ensure care is provided in a timely manner
Med pass, wound care, and triage
Manage acute and chronic medical conditions in a corrections population

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Alaska RN license (or actively pursuing)
Current BLS (American Heart Association)
Minimum 1 year of experience working as an RN
Prior corrections experience preferred; acute care background a strong plus for Infirmary candidates
Must be able to clear a State of Alaska background check
Covid vaccine not required

Compensation

Local rate: $63.00/hr
Travel package: $23.00/hr + $1,500/week lodging + $300/week meals and incidentals
OT paid at 1.5x after 8 hours per shift
